Medically Supervised IV Therapy for Hydration, Nutrient Support & Recovery

At Impact Health NY, we provide medically supervised IV therapy to support hydration, nutrient replacement, and recovery in appropriate patients. Depending on your needs, IV therapy may be used as part of a broader treatment plan.

What Can IV Therapy Help Me With?

IV therapy at Impact Health NY can be considered if you need assistance with:

  • Dehydration or loss of fluids
  • Electrolyte imbalance
  • Recovery if oral hydration isn’t feasible
  • Nutritional deficiencies, if recommended after evaluation
  • Assistance with recovery from illness, travel, or physical activity

IV therapy will be determined on an individual basis depending on your specific symptoms and history.

IV Therapy FAQs
What happens during an IV therapy session?

A small IV catheter is inserted into a vein, usually in an arm. A fluid solution containing electrolytes, vitamins, and/or nutrients is then slowly infused into the bloodstream. The typical IV therapy session can last between 30 to 60 minutes. During this time, you can comfortably sit back and relax as the treatment is administered by a medical professional.

This depends on your medical requirements and reasons for undergoing IV therapy. For some, it is necessary only on occasion, while for others, it is part of a scheduled treatment program. At Impact Health NY, we determine the appropriate schedule based on your symptoms, medical history, and health requirements.

The majority of patients report minimal discomfort during IV catheter insertion, comparable to a blood draw. Once the IV is in place, there is no pain associated with the IV therapy. Our medical staff is dedicated to ensuring a comfortable experience for all patients.

The length of time that IV therapy benefits last varies from patient to patient and depends upon the reason for treatment. Hydration benefits may be experienced shortly after treatment, while nutrient replacement benefits may be experienced over time. Additional IV therapy may be recommended for patients based on their body’s response to treatment.

IV therapy for wellness and nutrient replacement is not covered by insurance for most patients. The reason for treatment and insurance coverage varies from patient to patient. Additional information regarding potential out-of-pocket expenses can be provided to patients before treatment.

IV therapy may not be appropriate for everyone. Patients with certain heart conditions, kidney disease, or other underlying medical concerns may require additional evaluation before treatment. Your provider will determine if IV therapy is a good fit for you.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, IV therapy should only be considered after a thorough medical evaluation. Certain ingredients may not be recommended, so your provider will review what is safe based on your situation.

Most side effects are mild and temporary. These may include slight bruising, redness, or discomfort at the IV site. In some cases, patients may feel cool during the infusion or notice minor changes depending on the formulation used.
